Greenhead Hotel, Bar & Restaurant

Went for a meal with friends. Service was faultless, asked about allergies, informed what was available & what had run out & meals described exactly as they arrived. Food was delicious & we would definitely return for another meal. Nice surroundings & friendly staff. Very good

Sunday lunches served with a smile. The Greenhead Hotel is just about equidistant between our friend's house in Penrith and ours in west Newcastle so ideal for a Sunday Lunch venue. The ambience is welcoming, the service good and there is a good choice of dishes.

New season Autumnal Duck breast dish ab fab nailed! As great as you'll eat anywhere... perfect combo with blackberries and beetroot! Bar Dan on the case: great memory, high service orientation... lovely to find the aware care.

Didn’t stay here. Just popped in for lunch. Absolutely, outstanding food and service. I’d go as far as to say, it’s the best Sunday lunch I’ve ever eaten out. A must not miss! You won’t be disappointed!

We booked this room while we were on the road, for the same evening. We called them direct and from booking, arrival, check in - the experience was amazing. We had dinner in the restaurant, complete with a welcoming open fire. Staff were brilliant, food was exceptional and the room provided myself, my wife and my daughter, the rest we needed. Would stay back here in a heartbeat. Breakfast was also 5 Star! Thank you!!

The food here has been fantastic the twice I've been and on the several more occasions other members of family have visited! Staff are friendly and attentive, really looking forward to another visit soon. Recommend the venison and the rolled pork! (Photo of venison dish)

Booked this for my wife's birthday - not far from Sycamore Gap and Hadrian's Wall. Booked for Lunch at 1 pm. Went through the front door, and it's a little gem of a place. The lad behind the bar was polite and engaging, as was the girl serving us. As for the food, three courses for £20... wow. I think if you paid £40, you would be happy, as they were stunning. A few local people were returning and trying the menu to exhaust their options. I live an hour away, and we are both looking at when we could come back - Trip Advisor gave it 4.8 out of 5. That's why we chose it, but the experience was an absolute joy with friendly staff, and they made a great effort for my wife's birthday too. Great professional staff, great food, well worth the money. Have recommended to many others and will be back.

This is the cutest little hotel. It’s set up almost like a Bed and Breakfast being very small and quaint. Each of the rooms uses keys not modern key cards like most other hotels giving it some charm in the modern era. The staff where also very kind. On the day of our check in we where running late due to ferry troubles and rental car troubles and they where reassuring that we would be able to still check in and even managed to save us a reservation for 8:45 holding the kitchen open as we had not eaten at all that day. Would definitely come back if was driving though the area again on another trip.
